What an exchange support team actually needs from you to trace a missing swap

The one thing an exchange support team needs to trace a missing swap is the transaction hash (TXID). Without it, they cannot locate your transaction in the blockchain's public record.

You send from your own wallet straight to the exchanger — nothing to connect, no account, and you stay on this page throughout. Rates are indicative until a swap is opened.

The swap is carried out by an independent exchanger and the deposit address above is theirs. whateverape.xyz never holds, receives or controls your funds, has no key to that address, and earns a referral commission. Opening a swap sends your receiving address, IP, browser and timezone to the exchanger for their compliance checks; we store none of it. Check their terms, fees and country restrictions before sending anything.

Here is why that is the only piece of information that matters. Every cryptocurrency transaction is permanently recorded on a blockchain. The TXID is a unique alphanumeric identifier that points directly to that record. Support staff use it to query the blockchain explorer, check confirmations, verify the receiving address, and see whether the funds were forwarded to another wallet. If you send them a screenshot of your wallet screen or a copy of your order number from the exchange, they still need the TXID to begin work.

The second thing they need is the exact sending address and the destination address you entered. These confirm that the TXID belongs to your transaction and not someone else's. Support will compare these against the addresses in their system. A mismatch often reveals the problem: you sent to a wrong address, a contract address instead of a wallet, or a different chain entirely.

The third requirement is the network or blockchain you used. Sending USDT on Ethereum versus USDT on BNB Smart Chain produces different TXIDs and different confirmation patterns. If you tell support "I sent USDT" without specifying the network, they waste time guessing. The network is visible on the block explorer from the TXID, but stating it directly speeds things up.

What support does not need is a long story about your account history, your previous swaps, or your frustration. They need the TXID, the addresses, and the network. That is it.

If you cannot provide the TXID, support can sometimes find your transaction using the sending address and the approximate time you sent it. This works only if the exchange keeps detailed logs of incoming deposits. Many do not. The TXID remains the single authoritative proof that a transfer occurred.

Before you contact support, gather these three items. Open your wallet or exchange history, copy the TXID, copy the sending and receiving addresses, and note the network. Paste them into the support ticket in that order. Do not attach screenshots of your transaction history unless asked - text is searchable, images are not.

If the swap completed on the blockchain but the exchange shows nothing, the problem is usually a mismatch between the network you used and the network the exchange expected. Support will confirm this from the TXID. If the swap never appeared on the blockchain at all, the TXID will show that no transaction exists, and the issue is on your wallet side.

The hub page this belongs to, "Swapping crypto safely," explains the checks you should run before sending funds to any exchange address. Those checks - testing with a tiny amount, verifying the network, reading the block explorer - are what prevent you from needing support in the first place. If you skipped them, the TXID is still your lifeline.
